5 Keys To Basic Pool Care

1. Water Circulation:
Properly providing adequate water circulation throughout the pool. If the pool pump is not working properly or the pool filter is not big enough or not in good repair, there will be constant problems with the pool.

2. Proper Water Balance:
Keeping the pool water balanced is a crucial requirement to having a clear swimming pool and protecting your investment. It is vital that the pool has enough sanitizer to prevent algae growth and that the pH, Alkalinity, and Calcium Hardness are balanced in order to prevent damage to the pool equipment and pool surface.

3. A Clean Filter:
Without a clean filter, there won't be enough water circulation, which of course is number 1 on the list. Make it a routine to clean the filter.

4.Water Level:
Many swimming pool have leaks that lead to a constant struggle with keeping the water level high enough. If the water level gets too low, the pool pump will start drawing water, leading to insufficient filtration and water circulation.

5. Filter Run Time:
Make sure the pool equipment is running for enough time each day. Most average size residential swimming pools should run for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours a day.

All five of the above tips are interrelated and work together. It only takes one of them to be out of line in order for the swimming pool to start having problems. Maintaing these five steps will insure your pool is crystal clear. Let HydroPools take the hassel of pool maintenance away and insure that your pool is working and looking it's best.

Swimming Pool Safety Tips

Never leave a child unsupervised near a pool.

Instruct babysitters about potential hazards to young children in and around swimming pools and the need for constant supervision.

Completely fence the pool. Install self-closing and self-latching gates. Position latches out of reach of young children. Keep all doors and windows leading to the pool area secure to prevent small children from getting to the pool. Effective barriers and locks are necessary preventive measures, but there is no substitute for supervision.

Do not use flotation devices as a substitute for supervision.

Never use a pool with its pool cover partially in place, since children may become entrapped under it. Remove the cover completely.

Place tables and chairs well away from the pool fence to prevent children from climbing into the pool area.

Keep toys away from the pool area because a young child playing with the toys could accidentally fall in the water.

Remove steps to above ground pools when not in use.

Have a telephone at poolside to avoid having to leave children unattended in or near the pool to answer a telephone elsewhere. Keep emergency numbers at the poolside telephone.

Do not consider young children "drown proof" because they have had swimming lessons; young children should always be watched carefully while swimming.

Learn CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

Keep rescue equipment by the pool.

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: Only you can prevent a drowning. Watch your child closely at all times. Make sure doors leading to the pool area are closed and locked. Young children can quickly slip away and into the pool.
